was it really only last sunday afternoon that we celebrated madeline turning 2 and a very special mother's day??
it could not have been more perfect...bubbles and a bike ride...
the events that followed, now seem like a distant nightmare.
(taken right before hannah's "fancy" haircut--the part she was excited about--and bandage changes. ouch.)
and yet, we are just amazed. what a miracle! every morning, i wake up amazed at the sound of my two little girls rustling in their beds and the pitter-pattering feet of a new day.
all things healing...
madeline has been such a little gift to our family, and especially to hannah during all of this. almost the moment madeline came to visit hannah in the hospital room, we started seeing our hannah girl again. after returning home, we went and got ice cream together. i guess madeline stuffed her ice cream cone in her mouth...and hannah could not stop laughing about it! it was the cutest thing. i think madeline helps us all feel normal again. and giggly.
hannah rocked it out at the children's hospital. so hannah. she made a lot of friends that day.
(fluffy bunny lives next door with our swedish friends)
what could be more healing than cuddly bunnies and babies??
(hannah just loves her cousin, baby lucas)
yesterday, was probably the best birthday to date. i felt so complete. so grateful.
UPDATE:
as you can see in the pictures, hannah looked better every day. she looks like herself! and i think pretty darn cute too in her 20's style "hat".
hannah will be getting her skin graft surgery this coming week. we are praying for a successful procedure--so it can be a one time deal. and who knows, the scar may even be pink! hannah's favorite color.
thank you again for all of your thoughtfulness...it has been overwhelming the love we have felt and the love (and generosity!) that has been shown to hannah.

She looks fantastic!!! As beautiful as ever! Elle wants to be her friend (she is telling me what to write). If she needs more cheering up we would love to come down so Elle can play with her. We will be intouch to see if that would be helpful. We love you all SO much and can't stop thinking about all of you.
Tears, so many tears coming down my face. She is looking so much better in those later pictures. I hope the surgery goes well...

my heart is melting right now..running down my arms and into my hands. i just want to give hannah my heart and help her feel better somehow. i don't even know her! i met her when she was just a wee one, but i feel like i know her through all of your cute posts. i totally believe in miracles (as i've seen many), and this is such a huge miracle. she is so precious. oh my gosh. just got overwhelmed with how sweet she seems. i'm praying for you, and i know things will be just fine with hannah. i just know it.
