bilateral myringotomy & adnoidectomy

(a.k.a. tubes in. adnoids out.)

6:00 am wake up my sweet dreaming madeline. she giggles. mom guilty...she has no idea where i am taking her and why.

6:45 am check in. distract my parched/hungry toddler. keep sippies out of sight, out of mind

7:30 am hand off my innocent child to a nurse. madeline rests her head on the nurses shoulder. what trust!

8:11 am "procedure" (though i believe anytime you put a toddler in a hospital gown and use anesthesia, its major!)  a success.

8:12 am listen patiently to doctor giving post-op instructions and listen not-so-patiently to my screaming, confused child down the hall.

8:30 am rock. hold. cuddle. sing. hum. love. kiss. and kiss. and love.

9:30 am home. madeline drowsy. relax. sleep. raspy voice. swollen, rosy cheeks. juice. love.

11:37 am madeline wants to walk. tipsy. very tipsy. hear lots of mumbled, "whoa. whoaaaoa." 's. laugh.

1:26 pm 3 1/2 hour nap. aahhh.

1:28 pm good as new, with some left over tipsy-ness. smile.

dont you just hate handing over your sweet little child for surgery! hope she recovers quickly and feels better. so far all 3 of my kids have had surgery...and it's been a blessing for each of them! two t&a's and one with tubes. good luck!

I am glad the surgery went well. It must have been difficult for you.

I've missed you and your girls and your blog. Surgeries for kids are hard--I've done it four times now (two for each little man). I feel so grateful to have good doctors and good hospitals here in the US of A.

How are you guys? I'm in DC in March and then again in May. Can someone say play date?

Oh no! Poor little one. My favorite part - the very tipsy walk. I love your descriptions!
