pool party

hannah's birfday pool party and bbq was a smash hit! we invited all of her little friends, 2 girls and 9 boyfriends, along with their whole families. we just love having so many fun families/couples in the area!

i didn't realize that i was serving every "choking hazardous food" in the book to the little tykes--hot dogs, popcorn, grapes, etc--until one of the mommies pointed it out to me...oops. oh well! hannah's favorites!

the kids were cracking up laughing on the turtle ride...until it started sinking and turned into a titanic scene. bad turtle.

above left: i told the boys to give me a "manly grilling" shot. this is what they came up with. weak

i really dislike when a party is over...and dislike even more having no more reason to eat cake.

Callie! Your girls are so cute and I can't believe you've been a mom for two years! You look great for having a two year old and a 5 month old! I am very impressed with your 2 years of mommy-ness under your belt. Also, your blog is much softer and more artistic than mine so good thing you have girls and I have a boy.

I'm having technical difficulties! (I think I've tried to post this comment three times now...) Anyway, looks like you all had a blast at the very fun birthday party - well, minus the turtle. Happy, happy, happy, happy birthday Hannah! WE LOVE YOU!

Callie - you are SUCH a great mom to plan a birthday party for your little 2 year old. That would be a lot of work, but it looked like a lot of fun! We wish you lived in the area so we could have celebrated too!

I almost died with laughter when you told me about the "turtle incident" or the "titanic turtle incident" or the "Nagasaki nuclear holocaust turtle incident of titanic proportions." It's all fun and games until you get hit by the high seas. There's a lesson for the kids.

p.s. I vote Hannah and Trent cutest couple award! Callie and Steve get the silver medal.

p.p.s. I forgot to say I had the best dream last night that Hannah and I were playing on a hill...that's all I remember. Cheers!

Alfandre's,
The only thing that could have made Hannah's party just a little more special would have been a visit from a true champion. A member of the world's finest franchise. Yes, you know in your hearts exactly who I am talking about. They wear a proud star on their helmet each Sunday. They embarass the football team of the nation's capital year in a year out. The one, the only, Dallas Cowboys. The next best thing could have been a visit from Landon wearing his Cowboys warm up suit. Maybe that would have scared away all those boys from getting so close to Hannah (since her Redskin fan Father obviously wasn't intimidating enough to do his job....if only he liked the right team).

That was obviously Tyson who wrote that.

I'm so sorry. I told Kathy not to write those awful things about the Redskins, but she wouldn't have it. She was like a mother goose protecting her young. Rest assured that our next FHE will be about softening our hearts. I will do my best to remove her rage towards the Skins. You can expect no more of those types of malicious emails coming from our household!

I'm jealous that you have daughters. And that Hannah has other boyfriends. And that you can have a pool party in October (it's snowing here!). And that you look SO beautiful. Seriously Callie, you're gorgeous!

You are the cutest mom ever. move to Utah and be my professional party planner.

callie, you are amazing. seriously i want to be just like you. you look like the coolest funnest mom in the neighborhood. what an awesome party! that is too funny about the popcorn, hot dogs and grapes, i wouldn't have known about the choking thing either, thanks for letting me know!

We couldn't figure out what that thing was at the top of your post. To us it look like a large colorful tarp covering something. It looked curved. Finally, we figured out that it was the cake! Callie, you look like your having as much fun as the kids. We agree with the other posters--you're a wonderful Mom!

For your next party, here are the top ten choking foods (you served three of the ten): Apples, Carrots, Celery, Grapes, Hot Dogs, Peanut Butter, Raisins, Hard Candy, Nuts, Popcorn.

you are the awesomest mom ever - check out how fun that cake looks! is that your pool? hannah is so cute! you asked about my camera - I have 2 that I use. one is a little digital sony that fits in my purse and is always with me. it actually takes really good little photos and video clips. I also have a canon rebel xti which is aweseome to take photos of the kids but it's bigger and harder to carry around all the time. my girl friend has a sony that's more of a hybrid btwn a canon rebel and a little purse camera. cameras are so hard to find just the right one - good luck! that was sweet of you to ask about ryan - his bone is just starting to grow back together and he's doing better and is supposed to play in the game this sunday. his foot is still really sore so I'm not really anxious for him to be playing again. unfortunately my opinion doesn't really matter.
