Vermont

{July}...lots of pics! beware!

when we started the road trip to VT a day late, we didn't have the heart to tell the kids we were actually driving 2 hours south to our dealer/mechanic (bad mommy off-roaded one day and damaged an A/C tube)...they were just happy to be in the car and on the move, as were we!

the bonus to our detour was that we randomly passed the historic site of where pocahontas was captured...we left out that detail, and told them it was where she grew up as a little girl amidst the tall green trees, you know, just beyond the river bend.

these murals were actually up in PA in a random historic downtown we stopped in because we were hungry.  but it played out perfectly for our pocahontas themed road trip. the girls wanted me to get pictures of them like they were REALLY "walking" with pocahontas and her tribe.

made it to the lake!

little g was in awe of his cousin lucas. too cool for words.

in the arms of his favorite person!

joe & sue took us to one of their amazing vermont discoveries...warren falls. it was gorgeous! but cold!

seriously missing these four

couldn't get enough of baby finn.

"water rides"

ice cream in the cute down of burlington

grant "talked" about this single moment for WEEKS afterward. i couldn't believe this sunk in and he remembered...and wanted to talk about it over and over and over..."ro-kkkk. lay-kkk. lu-kkss." "did you throw rocks in the lake with lucas?"  then, he give a big grunt signifying yes and smile.

i know i'm posting the same pic...but trying to get a picture of the four of them was hilarious.  at least they said "cheeeeeeeeese" the. whole. time.

steve and i took the kids to this amazing working farm called Shelburne Farm.
when the barn looks like that, you know the Vanderbilt family must be involved.

the kids loved seeing all of the farm animals in action, petting them, feeding them, seeing how cheese is made...grant was floored by the tractors.

one last shot of hannah swimming in her undies with grandma in the crystal clear waters of lake champlain! it was heavenly.
