R.I.P. Sally & Debbie

so i went out with a friend one night. that meant the girls had daddy ALL to themselves. a real treat. i love coming home after a night like that...the kids are in bed, steve was even in bed, and i roamed the house for evidence of their daddy date night...

little dirty socks and shoes strewn on the floor--they must have gone out.

a soggy french fry and two small, pink, plastic barbie toys on the table--must have gone to mickey d's.

two fish happily swimming...PAUSE. two fish??--i can't help but laugh. they must have gone to the pet store...

Sally
beloved spotted fish of hannah elizabeth
life span under our supervision: 3 days

Debbie
(aka "tuptate" or "Daisy")
beloved goldfish of madeline kay
life span under our supervision: 4.5 days

a sad ending to our first pet experience? yes. but we all knew that flushing sally and debbie down the toilet, sends them right up to heaven. hannah knows, without a doubt, that her sally is happily swimming with Heavenly Father. you can see it in the intensity of her face. madeline is just glad to say the words "my fith in heaben!"  and mommy is relieved that when they tell everyone about their "dead fish", it has a happy ring to it because they know where they are

ironically, the girls went to an adorable animal party this past weekend and received two NEW goldfish as party favors. uh oh.

life span under our supervision: 1.5 days
(didn't even get a chance to name them)

Callie! Congrats on the pregnancy, three is a blast. Sorry about the fish, the same thing happened to us last year for Mercy's birthday. So this year... she got a puppy. What am I thinking.

Your posts make my hear smile and your girls are just precious. And it is so exciting that you are going to have a third!

And I love that your husband took on a part time job to get you the camera you wanted. Heart of gold.

What did you do to those poor little fish?!? He he. I love the way you write. Very cute and funny. I am also glad the girls were happy to flush the fish to heaven. We need to get together and play sometime.

Will got a fish for his 2nd birthday from his Dad. Two weeks later, Will called me over to tell me "Two" the fish was sleeping. Indeed. Later that night, Daddy took care of it...by buying 2 new fish. They are named "Two" and "Free". So far, so good. Fish are harder to care for than kids, really.

So sad ... but so funny at the same time! Our "late" fish ... got a little over-feed -so much he couldn't even breathe because of 2 two year olds ... Benjamin's 3 now :) Maybe we'll try it again when we get settled in! We love that fishies go straight up to "heaben" when you flush them too!

This is the funniest post (to think of it, most of your post are very entertaining!). I am sure those little fish had more excitement in their few days then most see in a full fish lifteime (however long that is?). And congrats on baby #3!! I hope you are feeling ok :)

Callie,
Sorry for adding to the heartache! If it makes you feel any better we are 1 for 4 fish. We lost three in one day. I love the pictures!
