2 months, what?! top 10 excuses for not blogging...

on a side note first, i have to thank everyone for their kind notes, emails, and phone calls! suddenly falling off the face of the blogging world got people a little worried something was wrong...as you'll soon see, we are all fine, life has just been busy...and, as you know, once behind in the blog, its hard to catch up!

#1: potty training. stop. straight to big girl underpants. stop. enough said. stop.

here's my little secret. i was a bed wetter. a serious one at that. i'm not talking about this"6, 7, 8...year old" bed wetting business. and i (along with some anonymous members of my family) have some hilarious stories to go along with it. so, the task of potting training a 2 year s
eemed daunting!

when monday, january 21st came, hannah woke up to a pink stepping stool, princess/flowery/pink/glitter underpants, her"potty party" chart, piles of stickers and little treats (for bribery/rewards), etc. and so it began...

alas....we did it...actually, hannah did it. i'm so proud of my big girl! i just love seeing her run around in her underpants with a partial wedgie. nothing cuter!

#2: auntie marta stopped in for a visit. festivities included, but were not limited too, a pirate birthday party where hannah insisted dressing as tinkerbell (it fits), a last minute day trip to beautiful west palm, and a super bowl party with homemade buffalo wings ("smack smack"... that was the sound of my lips). auntie marta's 48 hour quick trips are NEVER long enough...

#3: despite tubes, hannah had painful perforations in her little ear drums... and then another ear infection followed just 2 weeks later. poor thing! madeline joined in the fun with an ear infection of her own.

this picture was taken a few minutes after a very sad scene...hannah was screaming the most heart wrenching screams of pain (this went on for like 3 hours)...she wouldn't let me give her any pain medicine and we still had 2 more hours before the doctor could see us...finally her ears "popped", she broke a sweat, i gave her some pain meds, and she fell asleep. my poor sweet thing...

#4: we've been side tracked by fun to be had and good weather...

#5: james & jane came for a long weekend which entailed a trip to disney world for "princethss" spottings. then, j squared helped us start our family vacation to naples, fl off right with the beach, yummy seafood, and an intense game of acquire. they are one solid couple whom we sure do miss!

#6: our very first alfandre family vacation! i can't give enough exclamations for what a wonderful week it was for our little family. the time spent together was priceless. its amazing what uninterrupted time in a new location can do! one of my favorite things about beach trips is that you keep life simple: only a few clothes need packing, eat simple fresh f
oods, and focus on the beautiful scenery, family relationships, and priceless moments (the funny and the sweet).

thanks to stephen's work, we got to stay in a beautiful golf community home in naples, fl. we were equipped with our own golf cart, tennis court, free golf, personal pool and hot tub. favorites included going for golf cart rides first thing in the morning, hot tub to start the day of right and end the day, searching for sea shells (you should have heard hannah trying to say that one), renting bikes on sanibel island and riding through the wildlife refuge, enjoying naples's pretty lights at night, walking the pier and watching all of the pelicans, exotic birds, and black dolphins...all the while, as long as madeline had a few handfuls of sand to chomp on, she was a happy little fish in the sea

#7...and 8, 9, & 10: throw in a few weeks of procrastination...the task of blogging after all of this time seemed overwhelming! but now, i'm back in business...

and of course, now my computer is being all crazy and won't let me post pictures...so, rather than postpone any longer i'm going to publish this post as is...i'll keep trying to upload pictures a-sap

All I know is that I could have used some pretty glittery pink princess underwear when I was two. xoxoxoxo to hannah girl. (and madeline baby)

I have REALLY missed my regular dose of Alfandre news. Look how beautiful, tan and happy your family is.

It is so good to hear that you're staying busy and doing well (except for poor Hannah and Madeline's ears! We have been there, darn it, and it's just no fun.).

Call me. I want a real update in addition to a blog one.

wow, i don't even know where to comment...there is so much. first of all you're family is so stinking cute. I'm so jealous of the awesome weather that you're enjoying. and sooooo jealous that hannah is potty trained....i'm still wondering when (if ever) it's going to happen for porter. i hate ear infections...so i'm really sorry you had to deal with that...and love family and vacations...you've had an eventful past few months!!!

I have really missed you my friend. I check your blog on a daily basis just so I can enjoy your humor and your beautiful girls. The last two months have been really lonely without it!

I am dying to hear how B-school is panning out. Michael has a few interviews, but we're still hoping and waiting.

So glad that you're back in business. I'll be checking it again tomorrow!

All our love,
Jen and the boys

Thank heaven you are back! I was beginning to think A) your internet was down or 2) you were abducted. Thank goodness it was neither. I hope you caught the little "Home Alone" reference there with the A and 2. Madeline got so big in your 2 month hiatus. Please don't do that again.

Wow sooo many priceless pictures. Hannah with her one butt cheak showing is always a top one. However, Madeline's remarkable Gilligan-like photo is right up there as well. I think that might be my most favoritest picture of Hannah in the world.
