i knew it was vacation when...

#1 both hannah AND madeline were fast asleep on the airplane

#2 the stewardess started handing out microwaveable hamburgers. (i know, i know...at first, steve & i were cracking up laughing at the nasty little steamy packages, but then were both wooed by the yummy smell engulfing the airplane cabin and our growling tummies. don't knock 'em till you try 'em!...don't think i'd do it again though)

#3 hannah could enjoy the tickle from daddy's scruff

#4 had lots of helping hands ready to give kisses, hugs, entertainment, and more kisses

that fabulous flight took us to a new destination: minnesota! my parents just bought their dream home in an adorable town called stillwater (actually the birthplace of minnesota...bet you didn't know that!). we sure had a blast and a half celebrating an "american family style" 4th with my parents, my brothers, auntie marta (my mom's sister), and my dad's side of the family...just wish my big sis could have been there! here are a few (quite a few!) snap shots from the festivities...

hannah now enjoying uncle ro'ney's scruff while touring downtown stillwater

happy 4th of july! (rodney saluting the flag...i have a very patriotic brother)

steve's 4th of july masterpiece: D-licious ribs. hannah's 4th of july masterpiece: her new white and now red dress

my cousin catie and her new hubby brought yummy cupcakes

auntie brown making sure everything and everyone stay under control and my cousin christina with her adorable kids elijah and maria

left: action shot of the lurpie legs. background: minnesota gramps having a smoke and drinking his mud under a tree. right: antie marta frolicking in the english garden and picking rasberries

left: my little tweetie on her perch. she literally spent hours in poppy's arms just content as could be.

practically everthing is within walking distance from the house...this is a park we all walked to where they had a band playing and tons of people out bbq-ing as they waited for the fireworks. we had our own pre-fireworks show. jensen, you were right. crossing the border for illegal fireworks really was worth it!

mall of america's indoor amusement park (you can get these boys to do practically anything for this girl)

...a perfect ending...only wish we could have stayed longer...

So glad you had fun. We saw Rodney the morning he left, and he said you were in charge of pictures. We just loved seeing Jensen & Marta at the Pratt's. Too bad we missed your mom.
I hope Rodney told you about the tutus and headbands! So cute! I'm sure Hannah would LOVE them!
Oh- Also we know Steve's BYU Lacrosse coach, Jason Lamb. He is a good friend, and said to pass a hello on to Steve!

I have a feeling that as the girls get older we will gradually see more and more of my head in those close up shots. That was one of the funnest weeks and I'm already planning my next visit to see you guys!

Just for clarity, "Minnesota Gramps," with the cig and "mud," is my dad, although I stole that name a time or two for this blog. A highlight for me was when Hannah picked out my name... POPPY!

How cute (you... and the girls). Your parent's house is such a dream. I can't believe you have an official little family.

ps.... about the $1.50/hour. It's a done deal. I am jobless and obsessed with your lil ones.

back to the tagging thing... since when did everyone all the sudden become to good to relay some useless and very interesting info about their lives. Callie you are not above tagging- you HAVE been tagged whether you like it or not.

Wow, what a wonderfully small-town, all-american 4th! You ought to turn this all into a documentary, Callie. All the values that make the country the greatest in the world! The girls are thriving in it. Leave it up to Jensen to sniff out the fireworks!

Can I just say that I love Jensen's comment on this post. Jensen - you are my hero.
